Packington and Normanton Church Ladies Group 2018

PACKINGTON AND NORMANTON LADIES GROUP 

The Ladies group normally meets on the second Wednesday each month usually in Packington Memorial Hall or Church Room at Packington Church. Meeting start at 7.30pm

     Membership (currently around 35 members) is available to all ladies, the annual subscription being £15. However, non-members are always welcome either as a ‘one off’ or with a view to joining the group.

JANUARY 10TH           10.30 to 12.30

Drop-in coffee morning – bring along those duplicated or  unsuitable Christmas gifts for a ‘Bring & Buy’ stall.    13, Babelake Street, Packington.

FEBRUARY 7th

'Offering hope to addicts in Santa Cruz, Bolivia', a presentation by Rachel Burton, daughter of a former vicar of Packington. Packington Memorial Hall meeting room.

MARCH 14TH

Work of the ‘Samaritans’.

Packington Memorial Hall meeting room.

APRIL 11TH

Visit to Ashby Museum, North Street, for a talk and buffet lunch.

12 noon to 2pm please meet at the museum.

 

MAY 9TH

‘How I ended up in Packington’ Rev Joanne Dyer, Curate in the Woodfield team.                    Packington Church Room

JUNE 13TH

Annual Dinner at Suzy Q’s, Coxon Mews, Ashby de la Zouch,

Meeting there at 6pm.

JULY 11TH

‘Bear with me’ talk by Janice Quinn, a collector of Teddy Bears.

AUGUST 8TH

Afternoon tea in church 3-5pm with a short talk on the work of the          ‘Children’s Air Ambulance Service’ by Ivan Ball MBE& Sandra Keeble.

SEPTEMBER 12TH

An insight into the ‘Derby Mountain Rescue Team’ by Dave Watson.      A voluntary emergency service covering mainly the East Midlands, involving search and rescue for missing and injured people.

‘You be the Judge’ Janet & Harry Wroe

NOVEMBER 14TH

Arming the Knight’ Presented by The Knight and his Squire.   Demonstration of undressing & then arming the notable Lancastrian knight Sir Thomas Tresham by his squire into a full ‘harness’ of mid to late 15th century armour and  weaponry, including details of the clothing and fashions of the day.    Annual Charity Evening Open to All.
