Work has started on Holy Rood Church

The long awaited work has started as builders came on site in the first week of April. The vestry fitments have been taken out (see photos below) and they reveal how damp the walls had become behind them. From 10th-12th April, work will be in  hand to take out some asbestos and to take out the old WC so church will be closed for those days.

Work is due to last some 3 mnths so there will be some disruption but we'll be working round it. Then we'll have a new toilet with disabled access and a mew servery, as opposed to the vestry with a sink in.

The reason for all the work? Well, the work we are now renewing was done in the 1970s and was looking very tired and not up to 21st ceturt standards. Once the revamp is finished, we will be much more welcoming and hospitable for all who come and visit.
